TheaRender for sketchup web site
-
Ugh, that sucks. I have no clue, but I don't think they would fold without a warning. Maybe they were impacted by that recent PHP security vulnerability and took their site offline until they can fix things? But that's all just speculation on my end.

@pixelcruncher I use SU 2022 a lot, but I see that Rayscaper works from 2024 onwards. But on my new PC I installed SU2026 and will try it.
Thanks -
@micione Would love to get your feedback on Rayscaper, and what you feel is missing compared to Thea Render.
Cheers,
Thomas -
@pixelcruncher For an old guy like me (73 years old), it would be nice to have the software translated into Italian...
I'm trying Rayscaper in SU2027 and it seems very efficient. -
@micione, I'm happy to provide translation, but I will need to use AI. Would you be willing to check the translations?
-
@pixelcruncher I might try. If I run into any difficulties, I'll let you know.
-
@micione - I can provide the first translations, but it would be great if you can check them! You don't have to translate stuff.
-
@pixelcruncher Ok. let's try
-
@micione I think Altair have been bought over by Siemens, so the site may be getting a refresh?
-
@JGA There’s a huge mess involving AltairOne, Siemens, and TheaRender. Tomasz, the developer, is supposedly on this forum, but he doesn’t respond to private messages. Siemens support believes the website is under reconstruction and claims that the software can be renewed or purchased through Altair—but Altair, in turn, doesn’t answer any questions. It’s truly exhausting for users. Complete disorganization.
A real shame.
But at least there’s Rayscaper now. -
@micione Sorry to hear about the mess, that's no fun when you depend on a tool for your work. In the meantime, the door is open:

For anyone coming from Thea Render, I wrote a guide that shows where everything you know from Thea lives in Rayscaper: material presets, Thea lights, sun/sky/IBL, the Darkroom settings and more: Coming from Thea Render
Questions or things you miss from Thea? Let me know here, I'm happy to help.
Thomas
Edit: Just to be clear, the meme is an innocent jab, nothing more. I don't wish anyone at Thea, Altair or Siemens anything bad, and I certainly hope nobody loses their job over this. Thea has been a great renderer for SketchUp for many years, and I hope its users get the answers they need soon.

@micione
Noted, mate. Hoping it's part of the security thing going on right now, at least they have a chance to recover. -
@pilou
Kerkythea has not been updated for a long time and frankly, is old tech now.
It still helped a lot of us explore rendering. -
Yep Kerky in the past that was only free one for SU...
