I have been away from SketchUp for a while. I just updated to SU 2026 and there is a feature that I am not familiar with. I see a toolbar for Point Cloud, however:

      • Can someone give me good explanation of what Point Cloud is?

      • Is there a way to remove or move the toolbar for the Point Cloud?

In SketchUp, a point cloud is a collection of millions of tiny points in 3D space that represent the shape and surface of a real-world object, building, or environment.

Each point has X, Y, and Z coordinates, and sometimes color (RGB) or intensity data. Together, these points form a β€œcloud” that looks like a 3D model β€” though it’s actually just data points, not solid geometry.

I do not have that version of SU but I assume View/toolbars turn off point cloud by unchecking the box

@L-i-am Thank you sir. That is a better explanation than any of the sources I read. πŸ‘πŸ‘

Just to let everyone know, I finally got the whole issue resolved. As it turned out, all I had to do was go to the Extension Mager and uninstall the Scan Essentials plugin.

I appreciate all of the response. πŸ˜€

As it turns out, using the Extension Manager did not really uninstall the Trimble Scan Essentials plugin. However, do to some replies from others, I did get the issue resolved.

OK, I finally got everything setup correctly now. It was kind of an awkward process but here is what I did:

              • First I uninstalled 2026
              • Then I made sure all plugins were up to date in 2025
              • Then I clicked on the check for update in 2025
              • Now I ran the update option in 2025 to install 2026
              • When the process for installing 2026 ran, I deselected the Trimble Scan Essentials, Revit Importer and V-Ray
              • Everything is now running fine and the Trimble Scan Essentials is finally gone and all of my plugins are installed and things are now the way I want them.

Once again, I really want to thank everyone (on the SketchUp and SketchUcation forums) for the replies and insight of how to get things going correctly again.

As I said in the original post, I have been gone for a while. Now I can get back to using SketchUp (latest version) again. πŸ˜€ πŸ‘ πŸ‘
