Struggling to fit a texture to individual faces
-
Greetings, Sketchucation members,
I've purchased a 3D ivy model to use in a SketchUp scene, but after importing, the leaf UVs seem to be lost. I'm struggling to get the texture to fit properly on each individual leaf. I’ve tried V-Ray's tri-planar projection, which works on a single leaf but doesn’t apply well to the whole plant. I also tested ThruPaint—it helped a bit, but it’s fiddly and seems to force all leaves to face the same direction. Any tips or better workflows would be greatly appreciated!

If UV data is kicked out on import it might be worth opening the model in another app like Blender to verify correct UVs.
If SketchUp has to triangulate the faces for the leaves on import you can get messed up UVs.
If you go to https://sketchucation.com/pluginstore and search UV you will get some plugin results that might help.
I think the importing is where the issue is. What format is the file?

Thanks, Rich, it come with a few, so far .obj works the best, I don't have Blender unfortunately

Try Skimp to import as its importers are better than the native I find.
Or Sam's Universal Importer: https://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=universal_importer
