Hi guys, not really a sketchup but kind of is also. I have been scared of going blind in my old age, as I seen i may be able to pass my time with sketchup as long as I am able to. Anyway Australia apart From the coclear implant, IVF, 1 pill curefor stomach ulcers, and now have developed the first Bionic eye: Researchers at Monash University in Australia have developed the Gennaris Bionic Vision System, believed to be the world’s first bionic eye designed to restore vision in blind individuals. This groundbreaking technology bypasses damaged optic nerves by directly transmitting signals to the brain, offering a potential breakthrough in blindness treatment. Human clinical trials are set to begin in Melbourne.
This revolutionary innovation combines robotics and medical science, bringing hope to millions affected by vision loss. It marks a major step forward in ophthalmology, paving the way for potential vision restoration for those with severe blindness.

I was working in St Georges hospital in Tooting many yonks ago (Opthalmology theatres too) and some of the stuff they were working on was truly mind blowing for the time. The lack of micro processors reduced the results but they were coming up with great directions for research. One of the items they brought into common use was artificial eyes WITH muscle attachment so both eyes would react to where the patient was looking.
I really miss that involvement and you made my day showing this here.
        Stay well out there.
