      I'm working in SU 2024 on PC.

      We've got a sizeable library of thousands of components we use designing playgrounds. Most of these have been set up as dynamic components with the ability to export materials for sub-components that can then be uploaded into our order entry platform (saves hours of manual entry).

      I believe I first experiences this with SU2023, but again in 2024 the description field in our component menu is inconsistently showing our part description OR "no description" regardless of if we enter one. Sometimes it will save the info, others it just doesn't. Out of all our Sketchup users, we're all experiencing this problem, so I suspect it's common.

      Is there something we're not doing right or is this just a bug?
      I've started including a description field in the dynamic attributes so at least I can export the info there, but it not showing up in the menu itself is frustrating since we have many similar components and don't want to have alter the definition field as that's how our system sees the part numbers.

      Thanks

        A coworker is suggesting it may be font related. If we copy and paste directly from our ERP (Netsuite) is doesn't seem to work, but if we copy and paste the description into a notepad which has a standard font, then copy and paste out of that, it does.

          @Nguice said in Component Descriptions - SU2024:

          if we copy and paste the description into a notepad

          Trying using CTRL+SHIFT+V when pasting to Paste as Plain Text

            It doesn't seem to recognize that command, not pasting anything that way.

            Trade off, since I am already setting everything up as a dynamic component, I can add descriptions there, copy and paste into that, then copy and paste from that into the menu and it works fine. at least that saves the external notepad.

            In anycase, the description also doesn't show up until you click on the component in the menu like you're going to insert it in the model, then it shows up just fine.
