Sydney Opera House deconstruction
-
Hi I have never posted a WIP before. It might pay off though as I may need some help with mapping perhaps with organic shapes. I recently did a very rectilinear simple image based on the style of Pers Carson. Anyway I thought of doing a more organic take on it. Then I thought of the concept of deconstructing the Sydney Opera House elements, stars to the water and the famous iconic sails. I have attached my first composition sketch here.Any comments welcome

Sounds like a fun little project. Interested to see where you take it.

You probably already noted it but the leaves need some love. They look radioactive.
It's also hard to decipher what shapes are happening on that rear wall structure. There's definitely some curved elements based on the shadowing here...
But the rest of it seems hidden. Maybe a clay pass to just dial in the lighting first. Big open spaces like this deserve dramatic lighting.
I would actually nuke the tree and stick a gobo behind the camera to cast shadows.
Looks good though

Lighting will be key, good suggestion on the clay render for lighting. That is a very rough sketch to look at the composition so the tree does not have the application of maps on the leaves. On applying textures would I use projected textures, will the normal maps pick up on that?
