Outpost spaceport

Ah. This is better. A few more logical structure refinements and this is it for the gantries.
-
Update.
-
Moving forward
-
Update. The track curves were not easy. Should have been, but weren't. Also had one crash. That was frustrating.
But the overall scene is done. On to the details.
-
Reminds me of the book by Peter F Hamilton, "The great north road". a fine render scene you have there.
-
I think NASA might like this layout.
-
Thanks mike. Thanks dave.
I hope the render scene turns out like I have in mind.
-
With your tenacity, I have zero doubt you will get there mate. https://realityfakers.net/tutorials/animate-a-rocket-launch-fire-smoke-simulation-tutorial-in-blender/

Nice animation Mike. Thanks for sharing.
You should be able to do all of that in SketchUp with Animator or MsPhysics except maybe the flames and someone may be able to find a source for the flames.

Raylectron now has some animation features. Not used it yet so not sure how extensive, but I've seen a bouncing ball with good physics and flying spaceships.
I have no plans to animate this scene. Maybe in the future. But I have to learn the animation side of what ever program I will be using. That's on my to do list, but not right away.

For this scene, the gantries are the star and the landing pad is the co-star., so I'm taking my time thinking about their design.
-
Update. Just minor adjustments as I finalize the design. More details left to make.
-
Close to finished on the gantries. Just need piping/conduits and lights. Some minor greeble.
-
Little by little.
-
Bryan, you are excellent on these sorts of subjects...
-
-
All railings complete. (I think)
On to the greeble!
-
Some scene info update.
The landing pad itself is actually a turntable and on rails. This is so the craft does not have to land exactly in-line with the gantry. It can turn the craft and move to align the craft with gantry.
The gantry retracts away on rails. The landing pads also act a transporter to the hangers. The gantry and landing pad are separate.
It's hard to see, but the mounting stairs to both do not touch the ground.
Within the gantry tower columns are storage and repair for maintenance crew support. Safety gear, restrooms, tool lockers, etc.
The big angular blocks on the bottom rear of the gantry are fuel and battery power. Fuel for the craft, batteries for the gantry.
The very center platform seen just above the person's head is a cargo lift. Cargo is loaded from the side openings and then lifted to the craft cargo hatch height. It will be a horizontal telescoping platform. It is also a tool, parts and worker carrier.
-
Another angle.
-
Coming together. Lot more details to yet to add.
