WoW, I appreciate it...
Man! I just realized the meaning of Ais... Thank you I am overwhelmed! The good news is that I will be in Amsterdam in 22-08, and hopefully may meet some of you (my syber friends) in person!
Hello Majid,
I Wish you have a wonderful time in Amsterdam.
Don't forget to visit the https://www.rijksmuseum.nl/enSometimes building shapes unintentionally form letters and thus a word.

Volgens de architect was het niet de bedoeling dat dit erin te zien zou zijn. "Maar ik vrees dat we er nooit meer vanaf komen."

Thank you, Beb! So I already have a Duch language teacher, am I right? (Kidding)
Google Translate seems unreliable... but the story of buildings was funny..
I will, I definitely will visit the museum, and it is near the daily route from the dorm to the University.
I have been mesmerized by Duch artists (Van Gogh, Durer, Rembrandt...) and Italians the most, among other European rivals...
Have you seen my (drawing...) book(s) on Amazon? (My full name Majid Yeganegi), I am passionate about the drawing, you know... -
Here is what I am thinking about as the basis for my next alphabet to sketch(up) model. Will try to "sketch" first but have to wait for my iPad pen to charge first.
Any input on the "idea" is always welcome/appreciated.
-
That sounds an amazing start and I hope it ends up in an stylish result.
Just to repeat myself; Starting from alphabet forms is to ignite our inner creative and there is no obligation for sticking to the initial form to end.... It is there to unleash our inner creative... -
My drawing skills need some more work. Here is my latest one which, again, really is like one of the ones in your book (page 33). As you can see, I need a lot of practice. I am going to pass on my X building for a while and try to learn how to sketch better. All that said, here is my latest attempt.
-
Believe me; you can develop this sketch to an astounding result IF you prepare enough resources and inspiration. i.e. This one for the sloped parts:

Also, many famous architects start from very loose sketches and then develop them. If you have a true sense of aesthetics then the more one knows about the execution the better the result will be.

Good points.
In some cases I probably try to be too precise and in some I am off base. I never would have figured out what the sketch was in your link. Was sure a wild building that it turned out to be. I think sometimes I get disappointed if my sketch is bot something just short of a render. From what I am getting from your comments and links, the primary point of the sketch is to pass along the basic ideas of the suggestion but with enough insight to convey the final goal/target. Not being an architect or artist and βagingβ turns this into a βchallengeβ.
-
You got the point!
Sketches are there to light the shadow and are part of the process from an abstract idea to details...And believe me, it is somehow challenging to acquire the skill, independent of age!
I myself learned architecture in workshops where real buildings were shaped. It was then that I could get the hang of the whole process... -
Much to th-ink about in this thread for which I thank you both. Thinking of the use of motif in this design language.
Windows and panels stylised to suggest the alphabet too with this render showing just one element so:-
The outline is a partial 'M'.
Putting two such elements back to back creates and 'M'.
The windows and panels also suggest a stylised 'M'.
Just responding with some thoughts folks, the thread has its own life tbh.
-
Welcome to the thread. Will be interesting to see where you take this thought.
Here is one I am thinking about that I had posted on the Twilight Render thread. Have a bunch of thoughts in my head as to what the next steps will be to turn the letter X into a building.
Again, welcome to the topic and looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
-
A and R. This is obviously not going to be simples.
-
Suggest looking at some of Majidβs examples or the pages from his book (earlier in this thread - page 2). You can also look at this thread Alphabet Inspired Sketches on the Twilight Render forum.
Hope some of the stuff on these two threads give you some ideas/inspiration.
-
I was away for a while and am surprised now. It is amazing that there are some fresh ideas growing. I also am happy that the book is doing its duty; being inspiring!
-
I received my Amazon sourced copy today, well worth the outlay and lots to think about in them thar pages.
You will be happy you did.
-
I have looked through it many times and find it very inspiring. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys sketching!
-
I am overwhelmed and appreciate your support.
I am more than happy that you have found it inspiring.
Due to my experiences, creativity is a state of mind that one may get used to. I hope you find it inspiring during your creative process. -
Moving on a bit.
The 'A' frame crossed to form four arms, to which apartments are attached, I know, not all the supporting framework is in place. Just sorting out the lie of the land.
Viewed from the top, the 'X' will be evident while decor on the outside of the apartments will initially be the 'E'.
I need to work out where the bungee cords, sorry, lifts and stairs will go but probably two of each.
-
You are developing your personal style!
I am happy to see that the book's essence - inspiration and creativity- has transferred. -
That is meant to be a whatif of apartments, a little craziness if you will. There is a central lift shaft etc but no stairs yet, or ever perhaps.
The fire escape method consists of a bungee cord system and the user just steps out of the building wearing the harness.
They will of course have to unclip the harness the moment their feet touch the ground and it could get messy if there is anyone above you when that happens. You might also need an umberella in that case too.
No, it rhymes with Mooo.
