Workaround for 2017 model import from 3d Warehouse
-
As most of you know, 3d Warehouse no longer carries models older than 2018, thus 2017 or older can no longer download models from the 3D Warehouse nor can the in-program "Component" importer.
So how can those of us with 2017 use the 3D Warehouse models now?
I stumbled upon the solution this week.
Search as usual on 3D Warehouse for the model(s) you want to use in 2017 with your web browser. Now open a second tab in your browser and go to SketchUp web modeler.
-
Create new model. Then use the Component importer to open the model in the app. Be sure you use the EXACT name of the model, but you can still browse for it as you normally would.
Now click on the 3 bars in the upper LEFT and select "Download" from the menu.
-
Select SKP from the second menu. This will give you the choice of 2021 to 2017 to download.
Select 2017, then select OK. This brings up the standard download menu. Save to your computer.
Done.

"upper left"
Sheesh. I wrote "right"
Left. The upper left.
And 2021. Not 2012. (allergies suck)
