Sketchup freezes one click in

It's hard to say without more information. Might be that there's some excessive geometry or something else causing a problem. Or it might be an extension or a style. Can you share the model so we can have a look and help you identify the problem.

It's 27Mb. Can't post.

I didn't have any problems opening or working the file which makes me wonder if it's a graphics card issue or an extension you have that I don't. I did purge unused stuff from the file...
...which reduced the file size by more than 98%. I also see that the axes have been moved and rotated which on its own shouldn't affect the operation in the model but it's something to be aware of. I've attached the file. See if it behaves better for you.

When you say one click in do you mean it opens and even on the first click it does nothing? does it make a ding or any other noise?
Are you opening an older version with a newer version?
Do you have a second screen, or have you ever had a second screen?
Basically all these questions lead me to
Could the little dialog that tells you you are opening 2019 in 2021 and if you save it you wont be able to open it in 2019 blah blah message be opening off screen stopping you from going forward? -

I tried on another SU model. Same results. I copied a list of my SU extensions and SU Check-up.
Is there a way to identify the date an extension was loaded in, so I could remove it in the reverse order? I have a newer Dell laptop (April 2021). Have been having problems with it crashing infrequently, usually mid-SU modeling. However, that is where I spend 90% of my time. I am an Architect and uses SU/ LO only professionally.SU Check-up seems to be happy with my computer. If it is a computer issue, how do I start to diagnose it?
Thanks for your time and insite.

What results did you get with the file I uploaded?
When SketchUp freezes do you get the message "Not Responding" to the right of the file name at the top?
There isn't a way to tell the order in which the extensions were installed. Even so, if the problem is due to an extension, it might be that it's one you installed earlier but is being affected by a later one.
The usual way to test for bad extensions is to disable all of them. Then enable half of them. Test the operation. If the problem occurs again, the problem is in the ones you installed. Remove half of them and test. If you didn't have the problem, enable half of the remaining ones and test. Repeat the steps until you've narrowed it down. Fortunately there don't seem to be many conflicts related to extensions these days.
Did this freezing start recently on this computer?
New computer: Update the graphics drivers by going to the GPU manufacturer's site and getting their latest drivers. Don't trust Windows to tell you if the drivers are up to date. (CheckUp only reports what Windows tells it so it isn't really a goodindicator either.)
When you installed Sketchup did you do so correctly? That means that you right clicked on the downloaded installer and selected Run as administrator. If you didn't or you don't remember, do that now. Make sure you have the latest installer from sketchup.com/download/all. If, after clicking on Run as administrator, you get an option to Repair, choose that.
Have you used this computer with additional displays? Is it possible that a dialog is opening off screen and that dialog is waiting for you to do something?

Thanks, Dave and Box:
There was a lot to check. Came down to my laptop, which is now in the shop, hopefully getting fixed. SU file works on a new laptop, a backup system.
Thanks again, so many things to check out. I appreciate your time.

Good that you tracked it down and it's being fixed. Makes me wonder... when was the last time someone had to take their T-square in to the shop to get it fixed? Of course no one ever erased a hole in their computer screen making changes to their SketchUp model.

LOL
It was video drivers and a windows update. I tried to update the video drivers before going, could not. Didn't know about the windows update. Usually, I get notifications and update on the same day.
Anyhow back up and going now
Thanks for help

Good enough. Keep in mind that it isn't unusual for a Windows update to include bad graphics drivers. Always best to go to the GPU manufacturer's site and get their latest drivers to install.
