Warehouse does not support older Sketchup.
-
Hi!
I have the original Sketchup 2018. I have not been able to get to the Warehouse via the program for several days. I heard from the vendor that "Warehouse is adapting to new technologies, so it changes the code, and that there is no obligation to support older versions, so Warehouse will not run on them." For me, it's a smart way to force the purchase of new time-limited Sketchup licenses. Is there a way around this? Maybe make some kind of extension? I can't imagine downloading models via a browser every time, a waste of time. I am asking you for help.[mod=:916kqfza]Moved thread from the Bugs category.[/mod:916kqfza]

Better than nothing...you have just to Open the navigator in the same time...

I just go to the site (3D warehouse) , look for what you need and download
(by registering there) -
SketchUp 2018 and older suffer from this change that was made to Chromium. Since these old versions haven't been supported for three or more years, it's unlikely there'll be any change. You can still search the 3D Warehouse from the Components panel in the Default Tray or you can go through your Internet browser. It's always recommended that you download components from the 3DWH into a separate SketchUp file so you can check them over to check them and clean them up to make them suitable for use before you add them to your project.

This seems to be the solution at the moment. Using the browser to search and Default Tray - Component to download. Thank you!
However, I think it's not fair what Sketchup did, suddenly an important function stops working and the only solution is to buy a new version .. -

SketchUp didn't make the changes to Chromium. That was outside their control. There were similar things with SU2016 and older when Microsoft stopped supporting Internet Explorer. Apple made changes to the Mac OS that have created problems for older applications, too. Software companies don't update unsupported versions of their products. It's a risk you have to accept when you decide to use an unsupported version of an application. Consider keeping your applications current part of the cost of doing business.

Breaking news. afew moments ago there was another change to Chromium that seems to have restored the 3D Warehouse for SU2018 and 2017. At least for now.

I am considering but when considering purchasing a visualization application, I was looking for a permanent license program, currently having 3 Skethups and Vray versions, I have to pay a Skechup subscription annually and purchase new Vray versions because the current ones will not work with the new Sketchup. When switching to a time license, I have to take into account paid Vray time updates. Having a company, we also have many other costs, and such decisions are quite important.

I understand. Of course by choosing not to keep your applications up to date you are also choosing to accept that at some point the old versions you are using will quit working. A "permanent" license may not require renewal but when the software developers stop supporting the version you paid for, you aren't entitled to further updates.

Good news :
The 3D Warehouse for 2017 MAKE is back (for now ???). We can therefore again very easily import what we find ... -
