      Hey guys,

we just bought a piece of land where we plan to build on in the coming year or so. I haven't messed with Sketchup a lot lately (used to use it for 3d printing design some years back) but I remembered it's great for architectural stuff. So I picked it up once again and already went through tons of youtube stuff.

I played around a bit already but I'm still trying to connect the dots. I found I can easily import a location with some height data and also a satelite image. Unfortunately that data isn't of very high resolution. Although I do have some better data. Especially for the elevation data I have some 1-meter-resolution height points from the surrounding area. The format is UTM32 coordinates each with a height in meters (referencing sea level).

Is there any good way to import this data into Sketchup?

Here's some example what this data looks like:

      682338 5512754 475.80
      682339 5512754 475.78
      682340 5512754 475.70
      682341 5512754 475.64

In addition I do have a dron that you could use to create some higher resolution imagery. So I wonder if it would be possible to import that as well and line it up. Still trying to find out if there's an affordable way to also create 3d data from the drone images (most photogrammetry solutions seem to be quite pricey).

Maybe someone has done all of this already and can point some fingers to resources that might help here. I'd be greatful for any input.

Don't shoot me if this all sounds terribly stupid. Basically i'm just a soon-to-be home owner with a little bit of dreaming here 😎

I just did. Unfortunately I can only select one Operating System though I have both, Mac and Windows available to work with. I selected Windows as I guess this is the less limiting variant - I saw at least some extensions only available for Windows.
