Perpetual license

I am being barraged with "subscribe now" emails. I have a perpetual license SU 2020. The emails are confusilg.
e.g. "Update your current perpetual license before November 4 to access SketchUp Pro 2021 when it’s released." Update what? To subscription?
Following another link it says "If you migrate your classic license, you will be able to use your current version of SketchUp Pro Classic in perpetuity. Do this mean not migrating will eventually disable my 2020?

What it all means is when your current maintenance and support period ends, you will no longer be able to renew it. This will not affect your ability to use SketchUp 2020 if that's what you are currently using. If your M&S ends before the release of SU2021, however, you won't be able to update to that version without buying a subscription license. The e-mail they sent you offers you, as a Classic license holder that is currently up to date, a discounted price for the subscription if you choose to switch to that. You can decide to stick with what you've got and continue using SketchUp 2020 for as long as you wish. Or, if you intend to continue updating to the current versions as they come, you can go with the subscription.
FWIW, there's more included with the subscription than with the old classic license and you might want to go to sketchup.com and check out the comparison.

My M&S renewal was May 2020. It looks like I now have to migrate to a subscription to maintain my SU Pro licence, which the e-mail says is $240 for two years, but when I select 'subscription' the billing information does not show the discount and shows £446.
Don't want to proceed, only to find that I've paid double the correct amount.
Does the discount show up later in the billing process? -
It should apply the discount when you put in your e-mail address assuming you use the e-mail address that is linked to your old Maintenance and Support plan.

Thanks for the reply - I'll try that - (keeping my fingers crossed!)

I've heard of several users not getting the discount because they used a different e-mail address than the one registered to the M&S account. They were able to get a refund of the overage by contacting Customer Support through the normal channels.

@Last is gone and the new owners view Sketchup just as a business.
The discount deal to subscribe is pretty good if the new features are really needed but you will be just a subscriber and with no feedback option like in the beginning.
IMO
If your most current SU does the job just keep your perpetual or free license and then you can use all your favorite plugins as well.
There is no way to be certain that the subscription versions will support your plugins in any case.
Even SU 8 with all the super plugins that there are is very powerful and complete for most modeling.
Sketchup in the beginning was and still is the best conceptual modeling program that one could hope for but is not a Cad program and Layout is not either.
For Cad and production drawings Give Turbocad Deluxe a look.
It is very configurable and icons for all functions with user definable keystrokes too.
It has Model space/Paper space/xref and underlay PDF features.
Also will import/export Sketchup/Acad/Dxf/Stl and more.
Very affordable too.
Sketchup 2018 is a good stopping point as even old legacy plugins and all of my favorites still work properly.dtrarch
