I was assuming that SU 2017 Make had been previously working on Bryan's computer and since nothing has changed with 2017 something on the PC has. This would suggest that the intel card is capable of running 2017, but the driver could be the issue.

Oh I totally agree. I was just saying that a dedicated card would be a better answer if he can add one on. I just don't have a lot of experience with on-board cards as I don't use them and haven't in a long time..well since Win7 πŸ˜‰
It's a shame when some one has a good PC except for the on-board shared video solution 😞

Yeah, Intel. I hate Intel graphics.

Yeah it's a laptop, so only solution is replacement.

I've tried something not mentioned anywhere and that was to uninstall Microsoft 3D Viewer. I also believe the last model I was working on became corrupted and caused problems as well.

I am currently testing these changes.

It's an old laptop. I'm only running 8gb of RAM. It will take 16gb.

i5 processor. Intel graphics. HP Elitebook 8460p.

16 gb will help but not sure you'll see any drastic difference πŸ˜•

Have you gone to the intel site and looked for a driver for your specific card??

Yes and installed it. No change.

Ok, have you tried rolling back to or downloading and installing an older driver.
Have you tried ticking or unticking 'Use Fast Feedback' in the Opengl settings.
Have you checked that your laptop isn't limiting power to the graphic card to save battery.

Did it actually run properly at some stage on this computer?
If so, when did it stop working correctly, was it after a Windows update or perhaps some other software installation.
Did you install it using Run As Administrator from the context menu on the install.exe? (installing, not running SU)If not or you can't remember, download a fresh copy from the downloads page, find it in your downloads folder, select it, right click and choose Run as Administrator, follow the prompts and when given the choice select Repair.

Did you do any or all of these things while holding your mouth right?

There are many options and configurations and reasons and they have been written about in many threads, so it is hard to guess what you have tried. But I'm pretty sure adding RAM, while handy, won't fix the issue. Going back to the time when it stopped working properly and undoing the windows update would probably work, but unless you know when and have a backup to that time it's probably not possible.

It turned out I was not holding my mouth just right.

What I did was was run Compatibility Fix a few times, ran as Win 7, then tested, then let run native in Win 10, tested, then put it back to Win 7, tested, then put it back to native under Win 10.

                            And now it works!

                            Upgrades. Always something. πŸ˜†

Thanks to everyone for the help. Let's hope it holds.

One way of limiting the potential inconvenience that can be brought on by upgrades / updates is to switch off automatic updates.

And it did not fix it. The problem came back.

This only became a problem after I upgraded to Win 10.

All drivers have been updated from mfg website.

Compatibility set and resets have been done.

It ONLY fails when I use the Selection tool/arrow.

So it has never worked properly since you upgraded to win10?

Some computers simply don't work well with Win 10, I have one that seems to update properly but the particular Nvidia graphic card is not compatible with Win 10, took me a long time to find that buried in a help document somewhere.
If this issue has been there since you updated then it suggests to me that your computer should be running win 7 to get the best out of it.

I just re-installed some Win 10 updates and restarted 3 times and now it's working.

                                      It's making me crazy! πŸ˜†

You are not alone, if you look through all the help forums and blogs etc related to updating to win 10 you will see many people with similar issues.
Remember, your pc was not built to work specifically with win 10, win 10 is an updates system that may or may not be backwards compatible with your specific hardware.
