2017 misbehaving

Hi.
Firstly my select arrow button has vanished, it has been gone for several days now and endured multiple pc restarts - it's not a major problem on its own, but if any of the other icons start disappearing then that will be an issue. Also, I'm noticing things are taking longer generally and more miscellaneous errors cropping up. The cynic in me is thinking that it's a sneaky attempt to encourage me to move onto annual subscription

Have you accidentally removed the select tool from your toolbar? You can reset toolbars if that is the case.
Have you checked that your graphic card driver is up to date, often windows updates push less than perfect drivers, best to check the manufacturers website directly. -
There was a Windows update immediately prior to things going wonky, but I've just updated all my drivers and the problems persist.
Stuff it, I'll worry about it next week, time for a beer.

I've still no idea where the select function has gone, it was part of the large toolset but now I just have a dead, empty space.

Go view/toolbars, select the large toolset in the window that opens and click the reset button.

I've never encountered that issue before in my 8 or so years of using Sketchup!
