Unwanted Triangular-ish Lines from 3DS imported into SKP
-
Anyone knows if there's a solution to removing unwanted Triangular-ish Lines from 3DS imported into SKPPro from 3D Max? I did select and make sure the "Merge Coplanar Faces" are checked when importing to SkecthupPro...
Please let me know if there's a solution please.
Right now I am using this method (which is a superficial method), which is:
Style > Edit > Edge Setting, and I unchecked EDGES. -
You could use ThomThom's CleanUp3 to remove coplanar edges if the importer isn't getting them. CleanUp3 can also be set to soften edges and that generally improves the appearance. Out of curiosity, after importing a file try erasing some of those edges you aren't appreciating. Do the adjoining faces get deleted, too? If so, those edges are required so you can't get rid of them entirely.
If you upload a sample file that exhibits this, we might be able to give you further guidance.

Hi,
as u said, yes I cant delete it. So right now I am using this method (which is a superficial method), which is:
Style > Edit > Edge Setting, and I unchecked EDGES.It works well for this project now and I am happy with it. But I am more than happy to see what other methods everyone here has got to deal with situation where unchecking EDGES isn't a solution
Thanks alot Dave!

Instead of making up something that isn't really effective, why don't you try what I suggested? You can't do any modeling if the edges aren't displayed. Just soften the edges edges instead.

Yes I did download it... And it's taking like 45mins (countdown) to clean up. I will proabbly try doing it in portions?

Sounds like it has a lot to clean up. Maybe you can clean up the file before you export it to open in SketchUp and save a lot of time.

Yea. But I find cleaning it up by portion speeds up the process WAYYYYY fast! And it works well too!
Now my model is clean without using my "Superficial" method!!
Thanks alot dave!!
