      Can pattern fill be controlled to obey certain boundaries?

        Fills can't have holes in them but you can use Arrange to bring the small rectangle and the inner circle to the front and give them white fill.

          A good example of the differences in layering from 2d to 3d.
          A 2d layer can be used to obscure something because it will always be 2d.
