      Hello,

I am trying to import CAD linework from AutoCAD Architecture 2018 into SketchUp Pro 2019 and the import is failing every time, no matter how simple the linework is.

I am saving the DWG down (tried each version), I am exploding the linework, and I am removing non-compatible elements (i.e. text, dimensions, etc.).

When I import into SKP19 I see the dialog box in the attached image (of which I am familiar, but have never had issues with). This example was a simple exploded rectangle (5'x10' drawn on the origin point of a new DWG.

We recently upgraded to SketchUp 2019 from 2018 earlier this week. Our import method is the same as before and had no issues prior to using SketchUp 2019.

      What could this issue be?

      Thank you!

Do you have Preserve Drawing Origin selected in the import options?

          Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I have tried it selected and not selected. Same result.

I had problems with importing DWG into SKUP as well.
            Try the following;-

            • Ensure you're working in World UCS and plan is also set to the World UCS.
            • Save back as plain AutoCAD entities to r14 or r12 DWG format.

            Regards,

Thank you for the idea. I just tried that, ensuring I was in World UCS as well as exporting down to R14, but the result was the same. I tried exporting to all versions and none seem to change how it is importing.

If this issue was just on my workstation I would probably just reinstall SKP19 but my coworker discovered this issue on her PC before I even attempted on mine.

Try dumbing down the plain AutoCAD file even more by exploding some blocks to see if they come into SKUP.
                Or
Get the use of your Trimble Support and put a call in - I was surprised and pleased at how quickly I received a reply from them.

select all and explode once, save down to the ACAD v2000 format.

Another Autocad command to try is 'EXPORTTOAUTOCAD' this might remove any hidden proxys
