Precise positioning on import
-
ok this is probably a fault that lies with me but I'm having an issue with importing files from my old modeling app trueSpace - I've now found a decent working file converter, but now there's a new issue.
how do you import a model and have it just go where it was in the setup?
I import part of the model. I then have to click to place it.. when you have a model thats 10, 20 30 parts that all fit together, this is going to be an issue...
is there an option or key I'm missing that just, well, places the import where it was in the model before? eg : import wall. import door, door goes into the wall as it was in the file, etc.

I don't know anything about trueSpace but I don't think SU will understand the coordinate base that you are coming from. A workaround I sometimes use for imports is to draw an element like a square at 0,0,0 in the source application and include that with each export. Then just line up all the squares in SU and delete when you are done.

I get what you mean but,
Bringing the mesh into blender (via obj) everything loads in place, as it does in Poser, daz studio, wings, silo.... Etc
Su is the only one that seems to require manual placement of every imported mesh item.
