Scaling Specifics

Hi! Total sketchup noob here. I downloaded sketchup and watched/practiced the get-to-know sketchup tutorials and then wanted to begin this tiny house tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yglGf52wNcE
Unfortunately I'm already stuck on a scaling issue. I downloaded the 4x8' trailer he suggested from the warehouse, but then he just says to make sure the trailer is rescaled to 8' x 20' corner to corner. Obviously I understand the basic entire component/group scaling, but I cant for the life of me get the trailer to rescale based on part of the trailer instead of the entire thing. I did try to create two guide lines at 20' apart with the measuring tape and then eyeball it into place, but I haven't had any kind of precise luck, I always seem to be a few inches off.
Can anyone suggest a better way to do this, or do I just need to keep practicing?

Using the Tape Measure tool, measure the trailer side that you want to be 20 ft., type 20' (it should display in the bottom right dialog box(, and press "enter".
if asked to resize the model, click "yes". If the width does not measure 8 ft automatically, you will have to edit the model itself. -
It wouldn't be appropriate to use the scale tool nor the Tape Measure tool on the trailer at least in one go because that will resize things you don't want to resize. You're better off to use the Move tool for much of it. You could scale the main frame but things like the lights and undercarriage will need to be moved, not scaled.
As for scaling the main frame, the Tape Measure tool would work however if you double the width, you'll also double every thing else. That won't get you a 20' long trailer. Stretching its length by another 4' will wind up deforming a lot of the frame members, too.
There are enough dimensions that will get changed inappropriately in this model that I would be inclined start over with the frame. Or, if you don't want to do that, there's another trailer model in the Warehouse that is 8-1/2 feet by 18 feet. It is actually built so it can be modified more easily and has an appropriate tongue and undercarriage for a trailer of that size.
Both models need attention to some details stuff like face orientation.
