Randomly Creating New Materials
-
Out of curiosity why does sketchup randomly create materials with ones used in the model? I would like to know what instance this happened so I can avoid it. I have been building models full time since May and it has only happened on occasion. The one I started on today has had it happen three time so far. I am not sure what is happening to cause it. It is not a big issue just an efficiency annoyance.

SketchUp does not randomly create materials old or new.You might wind up with unused materials if you insert components from the warehouse for example. Those materials will remain in the In Model materials collection even if you delete the components from the model unless you purge them.
It's also possible that certain extensions add materials to your SketchUp file. Do you have some rendering extension installed?

Thanks for the quick response.
It will take an identical to what I am using material and name it the same name plus 1. This happened before I used extensions also.
I was using Translucent Glass Sky Reflection. Went to lunch and now there is a new one called [Translucent Glass Sky Reflection]1. When I delete it 6 windows are effected but copies of that same group are not. When I fixed it before, it was all copies of that group because I had not noticed it before I stared copying it. Now after fixing it once there are 6 with the new material.
