Kill point or 2 adjacent segments
Double Click on a segment or select All segments
      Right Click / Convert Polyline / then F8 πŸ’š
      (with Bezier Spline by Fredo)

Seems a candidate for a future Sdmitch plugin! πŸ˜„

You could just move one vertex to coincide with its neighbor. No extension required and speedy.

Yes but don't works when face is yet selected for any reason! πŸ˜‰

Why would you think you need to select a face? You don't need to select anything. Click on a vertex and move it. Plain and simple.

                Weld in Vertex tools?

The problem with moving vertexes is when they're part of a mesh and they won't always snap to another vertex even when holding the ALT key. Then you have to toggle xray mode and it can then snap. I assume the same would be true for the move vertex.

I use vertex tools and do use the weld command (mapped to Ctrl-W) a lot, but it moves all verts to the average position of all verts, which doesn't work for me. Lightwave has a WELD command which moves the first vertex to the second vertex and welds them. Good stuff. Seems like an easy one to make. Helpful when manually reducing polygons.

                    Ask to Sdmitch! πŸ˜‰
He loves very specific localized problem! 😎

Do you want the same on a volume or just along a face disconnected
                    as shown on your video?

Sure but sometime you select something for any reason then think "oh that face that will be better with less points(s)" ! πŸ˜„

I have a similar problem - easy to describe:
I'd like to move one corner of a planer surface.
I had assumed that I'd need 'Vertex Tools' or another plugin, but then I saw DaveR's reply.

I can't get vertices to display. SU behaves as though vertices didn't exist. This is consistent with the general rule that SU only knows about edges and faces.

                        What am I missing?

You can turn on "endpoints" by editing your style (or choosing a different style) under "Edit/Edges" tab. More importantly when you hover over an endpoint (vertex) with the move cursor you should get a blue dot with the note "Endpoint" attached.

To move one corner is easy. Just pick the move tool--without anything selected in the model. Go to vertex, see the blue dot, and click down on it. Now you may move. But you may really need a "target" to move too, typically another vertex or intersection that the move cursor will snap to as you move the vertex. You can use the shift key to lock in an inference control. If you want to be sure the movement stays in a plane, you can hover over a face and lock in "On Face" inference, using the shift key, before you go to move the vertex. Sometimes you may have to depress the command key to allow deformation during the move.

ehhh! while I am composing this Chip does a video. Well here's the written version anyway.

Chipp take a look at TT's Edge tools-straighten edges. So practical and smoothly implemented (typical for this author).

I am in the habit of selecting the objects before the tool. I didn't realize that the move tool must be selected first for this to work.
