Convert to construction lines (dissapear)
-
I have converted my footing lines to construction lines so that they show as dashed lines in layout. But, they seem to dissapear from my model. I have checked to make sure that the scene that I am using has guide lines checked. When I go to my footing layer, there is nothing that is visible. What am I missing?, and is there a better way to achieve this than this method?
thanks, Jerry

Are the guidelines still present in SketchUp? Are you saying they disappear in LayOut? If that's the case, guidelines will only show when rendering in Raster or Hybrid. They are raster image so they will not be displayed as Vector lines in LO.
Guidelines are volatile and really shouldn't be used in place of dashed lines. There are a couple of methods you can use in LayOut to get lines such as you want to display that don't need to show the guidelines.
You can temporarily render the viewport as Raster and trace the guidelines with the Line tool. Set the line weight and style as desired in Shape Style.
You could draw the footing lines as real edges in SU, display them in a separate scene and then stack viewports in LO. Render the footing line viewport as Vector and then explode it so you can change the lines to have the desired dashed style.

Thanks Dave. I will try that method. FYI, they do disappear in su. They are still visible in LO from when I first created the viewport. However, I did an update model reference and they are now gone in layout alos.

If you deleted guides in SketchUp, those lines for your footings would be gone. When you update the reference in LO, the viewport will show the state of the SketchUp model when it was last saved.
We should talk.
