Any good ideas, bargains out there for monitors? I run off a Mac PowerBook. Been happy with my Dell 30" DELL3007WFPHC (but it's pricey) and it seems about to expire. It has occasional screen flashing stripes. I think it could be interference but no way of knowing. My other screen shows no problem.

        I like the Asus PB287Q.

This is good for the price though...

Nothing beats an NEC monitor though for design work. Pricey as #$&@!

I'm running a Dell U3415W off a MacBook Pro RD (13" 2014). I really like the huge real estate, and it's especially nice having SU and LO windows set up side-by-side. Haven't had any display issues with it, though the Windows-only drivers mean that software controls aren't available on the mac.

If I was buying now I would also look at the LG ultrawide and the newer Dell (U3417W, I think) โ€” but the price/performance of the 3415 still makes it a compelling choice for a monitor of that size. (it can be had for ~CAN$900 if you wait for it to go on sale)

Came from a U2412M, so the one issue for me was the dot pitch... everything is relatively smaller on the ultrawide (menus, text etc) and it's sometimes tough on my old eyes.

Thanks all I'll look into these! I got a an LG as a cheap extra monitor at home and have it set up on HDMI now as a second monitor. Maybe you are talking another LG but I have to say I wouldn't buy another of this class. It does the job but there are definite issues with smaller font and you can see a tiny grid . So I'd hope to get something like the Dell.

I don't know what direction to go in a 4k....
