I got a location snapshot and turned my model to fit appropriately on the site. I then went to Tools>Axes and rotated the axes of the model to be square with the building. But now, the Standard Views are still aligned to the old axes, so nothing is square-on like it should be. How do I make that right?

The standard views (and the ground plane) are fixed in SketchUp. Moving the model axes do not have any effect on those things. You can select a face that is aligned to the view you want and choose Align View from the context menu. Do that and create a scene from that view so you can quickly return to it.

That's unfortunate. But at least it's easy to copy everything into a new file, which seems to straighten everything out. The only problem I've noticed so far is that somehow, there's a ton of bright red light inside the model, whereas it's supposed to be metal halide. Any thoughts?

There's no need to copy to a new file? Just use Align Camera as I told you. It works just fine.

As for the "red light inside the model", to what are you referring? SketchUp doesn't put any sort of lights inside. The only option for lighting in SketchUp comes from the sun. Upload the model or at least show a screenshot. Give us something to help you with.
