      Hi everyone,

I am a newbie. I looked around but I couldn't find a solution to this.

In my project, I have a component (a pretty complex truss) misaligned respect to another. How to align it to ANOTHER component? The problem is that the component to be aligned is a cylinder. Therefore, anytime I try to put it in contact with the other component, the contact edge is hidden and I cannot use the interference.

I add a picture showing what happen. Note that the original project I am working is much more complicated and I cannot use, for example, the cylinder base to do the job. The only way is to actually tilt the cylinder and align it to one of the edge of the box. I hope to have been clear enough. I searched online for a tutorial about this, but everything seems to use components like cylinders.

It could be done using inferences and/or guidelines to help rotate it to the correct angle. Telling you exactly how is difficult because there's not enough info in the screen shot.

If I was doing it from scratch, I would have just drawn the cylinder in place starting with a circle drawn on the appropriate face of the other part.

Use Move Tool to move top center of the cylinder to an edge of the face you want to align to. Use Rotate Tool to get the cylinder perpendicular to the face. Use the Move Tool to position cylinder on the face

Nothing is worthless, it can always be used as a bad example.

thanks, but I cannot move the top center as the actual components has no top face. I really need to use one of the face of the cylinder.

Just to be clear: I need to set the axis of the cylinder parallel to one of the edge of the box using just the cylinder surface. The actual object is much more complicated.

              You could try FredoTools MoveAlong.

In the VIEW dropdown menu check HIDDEN GEOMETRY and/or EDGE STYLE/BACKEDGES. This will allow you to see the hidden parts of your model and use any available inferences.
