Sketchup lagging without any reason
-
Hello everyone
My sketchup started lagging about a week ago. It wasn't doing something like that before and my system is capable to run it perfectly. So I searched for the reason why is it lagging and open the preferences/OpenGL and checked if hardware acceleration is off. Even it is on, it is lagging and the strange thing is when I turn it off, I can at least zoom in and zoom out freely but it is still lagging while selecting any object and it looks worst than before, resolution is not great.
I installed the same version to my friend's laptop with same model and brand to see what is going to happen, he also had the same issue.
My graphic card driver is updated so I also tried to install an older driver but it didn't change any thing neither.
Does anyone have a similar issue with sketchup recently? What can I do, I should fix this before the design project deadline
My system:
Dell Inspiron 7559
Intel6th Gen Intel
Core
i7 6700HQ
16GB2 Dual Channel DDR3L - 1600Mhz - 2 DIMM
NVIDIAGeForce
GTX 960M, 4 GB GDDR5
FHD 15.6" DISPLAY
Windows 10 Pro -
There is always a reason for this sort of behavior. Was there a recent update to your computer's graphics driver? It may be that you need to roll back the graphics driver a version or two. At least try it and see what you get.
Does this problem occur with even a very simple model? Or is it just the project you're working on? Do you get the same lagging behavior when you are using Hidden Line Face Style?

I tried running it with integrated intel graphic card and it worked fine so the problem is about the graphic card or driver. I will try two and three version older driver as you said, I hope it will work.
Yeah it occurs on the same device with same hardware. I am not even opening a project. I just open sketchup with a blank template. There is only the sketchup guy near the axis

You were right I installed a month old driver and now it is working well. I don't know if nvidia is aware of that problem or anyone have the same issue. I will let them know about it. Thank you Dave

I'm glad that helped. Notifying nVidia may or may not help. They are always releasing new drivers so the next release might take care of the issue. If you didn't manually download and install the driver update before, be on the lookout for it to get updated again. Or turn off auto updates.
