Sketchup importing properly with textures:
-
Hello, i have a furniture that i want to import in the proper way to sketchup including my textures for vray.
I will attach 2 folders : one folder has the model inside in many different formats, and the other folder has the MAPS.
If there is someone willing to make a short video or a step by step explanation i would really appreciate...
Please find attached the two folder!
PS: (i cant atach the folders since they are 350mb) how can i upload for you guys? -

C'mon at least tell me any tip how to import only the 3d model without taking match memory, the last time i did only this furniture went to a 1GB file.... show me some good tips how to lower the meshes and polys or how to import the proper manner ...

SketchUp doesn't do well with high polygon count meshes. It's best to optimize the model / mesh before bringing it into SketchUp. Take a look at Mootools as a starting point.
Keep in mind that some rendering apps is able to reference external meshes and replace it in the renders from SketchUp.

the geometry [1.4 million entities] comes in at 154MB using jf_mesh_importer...
you can then split it up and mirror bits to reduce further and re-paint with the two materials it seems to be using...
I imported the FBX as others failed...

With a bit of fiddling you could probably do much of the same with Blender. Also take a look at Meshlab.
You'll probably have the best results from Mootools though, maybe they have a Black Friday deal coming up? I know a while ago they had it available at a discounted rate as well... Hint: first download a trial version, sometimes you'll receive an email offering you the software at a special price.
In the end it boils down to how often you do this and what your time is worth to you.
