Shadow darkness when changing styles
-
Note this. If you copy a reference and want to change the shadow darkness in your copy version, you cannot without changing the original reference within SketchUp (and copy again). There's no shadow darkness setting in the LayOut "Model" window.
-
That's true. Shadow settings are a scene-specific thing in SketchUp and changes to the scenes can't be made from LayOut so you would need to make the change in Sketchup, update the scene, save and update the reference in LO.
-
I turned on the shadows in the copied scene. It updates in the original reference But it won't update in the scene that has a changed style. All other aspects update.
Shadow settings CAN be changed in LayOut. You just can't control or change the darkness settings after you do that.
-
Does the scene show as modified in LayOut? It will if you turn shadows on from LayOut and if the scene shows as modified, you've disconnected it from the original scene so scene specific changes you make to that scene will not be shown in the viewport.
-
Yes It's modified because I chose a different style. I can change the time of day but not the weight of the shadow is all.
-
You're right. There's no sliders in LO for shadow weight.
Even just turning on Shadows or adjusting the time and date in LO results in the modified scene for the viewport. So if you make the scene show as modified by changing the style or something in LO and then go back to SU to adjust the weight of the shadows, the change won't show in LO because you've already disconnected the viewport from the original SketchUp scene.
Make style changes and shadow settings in SU and leave the viewport tied to the original scene and you won't have any problems.
It isn't good practice to create modified scenes in LayOut.
