Unable to authorize sketchup pro 2015

i downloaded and licensed sketchup pro 2016 into new laptop and then copied sketchup pro 2015 installation file from prior laptop. however, i am having trouble authenticating 2015 - even with serial no. and authentication number from 2015 license. i thought i read somewhere that this blockage was being planned by trimble - as if we are being forced to only use 2016.

If you've installed and licensed SU2016, the SU2015 license will no longer work.

it's been like this since the first v1 upgrade of SU, before Google or Trimble...
other software immediately overwrites any older version, but SU has always [and still does] allows you to 'keep' previous versions on the system it was installed on...
I recently lost my hard drive that had v5 >> v16 Pro and now only have the current 'Pro' version...
I'm staring to see i more as a blessing, than a curse...
there are also many other paid for apps, I haven't bothered to re-install, even though I own a license...
my cleaner leaner machine is at least twice as fast as it was...

trimble should at least explain that as you go crazy re-pasting the numbers into the licensing fields. all you get is an ''oops'' message.

There is a page regarding licenses here. At the bottom of the page the text in the box talks about your old license. They talk about installing an older version of SU Pro on another machine after a newer version is installed and licensed.

the previous version will run fine without any runtime limit until being on the same system.
30 days after activating the license of the recent version (workstation license) installing the previous version on another system is not allowed any more... you can install the recent version on a second system instead... if not using simultaneously of course.
