Your sketches look great, David. Do post some more.

Oh boy. I do believe I started with version 1.2, or at any rate, before you could smooth curves. I remember feeling drunk with power when smoothing was finally possible! I was pretty active in the @last forumβI remember Alan Fraser, Mayor Mike and Susan Sorger most of all. One memory in particular: One of the guys on the @last forum (my brain is telling me his name was Steven, but I can't be sure) had a serious health problem and was stuck in a hospital in Milwaukee. We all pitched in and bought him a laptop so he could SketchUp in bed. What an effort of brotherly affection!
I still have the tutorial to make SketchUp output into pretty decent watercolors somewhere in the server here at work.
The first model I shared was a Titanic deck chair that I spent hours on. Looked exactly like the one in the FormFonts catalogue

Started with SU just after buying my first PC. Back in the day of V3 (2002/2003?). Actually only a month or so ago I came across the original CD, surprised I had a CD in the house let alone my first version of SU!!
I can recall the very reasons for buy sketchup in the first place. I'd just bought my PC and landed a nice unit project, invested in Autocad light but couldn't get my head around it fast enough to start on this project so found I could do everything in Microsoft WORD - site plans, floor plans, elevations the works. Then the council came back and asked for a perspective!! Though I'd done a lot of these by hand in earlier years I figured I search to see if there was a simple software solution! BAM sketchup!
After what would have only been a few hours I managed to knock out at least some very simple images to supply council.
Here is that first ever work from my first time with SU and one of the original elevations produced with WORD.

I heard of SketchUp when it first came out. DataCAD (cad software we use) sent out a promotional disk, and offered it at a discount. I remember trying it out, but at that point it was too basic. Bought my first license at version 3.

I joined here the same year I started using SketchUp.
So what version was that?
God, 8 years. And I still can't make a car.
I was inspired by the artists who were around back then and those who are still around. (but dammit I wish you guys would post more. I will as soon as I finish the project I'm working on)

Looks curiously like a Ford Ecosport. Nice and realistic but someone should wash the windows.
