I am not exactly new to Sketchup, but I use several 3D programs, and I am confused by these colored areas on the right and left of the model they appear to be boundaries that show up in this model. I don't know how they got there, and I don't know how to get rid of them. Please, I just want rid of them unless there is some importance to their existence.

How are they colored? Can you share a screen shot?

If they are two shaded areas you may have set a camera.
From memory, Go to Advanced Camera and select reset camera.
