Hi,
Can someone please explain how these sections(sort of!)seen at http://www.adamtkocz.com.pl//index.php?id=015 are made.Thanks.
Yes the push/pull tool was probably used on the wall as ntxdave points out, but how do you get the section cut effect for the windows?

For this recipee you'll need:
- A section plan
- Zorro2 plugin
- SectionCutFace Plugin
- Any Render Engine
- Any Image Editor (even native from windows/mac will do)
You then do the following steps:
- Save a copy of your model and work on it.
- Click with right mouse button on the Section Plane and Create a SectionCutFace with white or default color
- Click with right mouse on the Section Plane again and use a feature from Zorro2 wich is the last in the list and says "slice model through section" (this destroys half the model hence the step in 1)
- You render with your render engine and as half the model was chopped off, sun gets inside
- You get your render into your image editor, push contrast and saturation up and there you go.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. But what I really want to know is how to get the cut in the walls in different levels. In the models at http://www.adamtkocz.com.pl//index.php?id=015 the behind walls are taller than the front walls. It seems like a neat trick. But I can't get it done with the section or Zorro2.Maybe I should ask the author.

also take a look at SKALP

then Slice by SUforYou
Slice,Cut,Detach objects
Create Group Section- Set plane by 2 points or 3 points
- Add section faces
- Select Objects and Section Plane for Create Group Section
(Put Create Group Section in the new layer and show only in the selected Screen)

The thing here is render engine section support. Skalp can be used to replace SectionCutFace, but if render engine doesn't support sections you've got to use Zorro2.
Also, if you want the sun to shine inside every room, you really must chop off half the building, I don't know if skalp does that...

I really question whether section cut of any variety was used in the models. If you look at them in every one there are sections where the wall is full height. If you also look in several of them there are part where the section is cut but there are items above the cut. As an example, look at the railing for the garage door. In each case, the railing is higher up that the wall that is cut right next to it. There are also other places where furniture extends up higher than the wall that is cut next to it.
Seems to me that they drew things then decided which walls they wanted to cut and used "push/pull" to reduce the wall height in certain sections. There also seems to be an indication for this when you look at where some of the walls adjoin the taller exterior wall and you can see two lines going up the wall where.
I realize I am a beginner compared to most of you but I have in fact used this very approach before. JMO.
BTW, I do wish there was a section cut tool that could be applied to just part of a model. There are many times when this would be a very useful tool.

Dave, you can use Zorro2 inside one group/component and slice that group without affecting the rest of the model.
You can have the walls you want to be taller in one group and the walls you want to be shorter in another group. Apply one section to the first group and use Zorro2 and then apply a section to the second group and use Zorro2.
It just a matter of choosing what to slice...
