Measurement tool (urgent!!)
-
Hi,
New project so new problems.
I need to draw a new very small city, i received the plans in pdf format and converted them to dwg.
I all putted them on layers and sorted them out in sketch up.
Now i want to make that all the drawings have the same measurements.
I normally do this whit the tape measure tool, i measure something and put in the measurement that it should be. Then sketch up asks if the whole model must be like that then i say yes. But it doesn't do it :s:s.here's the download link.(http://we.tl/t9lGBkav10)
Thanks in advance,
Sam

I have no trouble resizing it with the tape.
But you must be aware that resizing the whole model does just that, so if you measure 4m on one of your floor plans and resize it everything will scale to that, which will be wrong. It doesn't know that the other plans are different scale.
You need to open each for editing and use the tape inside and scale each one to the correct measurement. Then they will be scaled correctly to each other.
Remember to toggle the little + sign off at the beginning of the tape action with ctrl then click and release, click and release on the other end, then type the size and hit enter.

If, after setting one known dimension correctly, the others are incorrect, you'll need to fix them manually. It might be that just scaling in one direction fixes it but probably not.
It isn't unusual to find that dimensions have been scaled differently in the X and Y directions on the page. Unless you can get to the original drawings, you're left to repair the damage on your own.
By the way, please upload your model here on SCF.

The model is too big even when purged Dave, and the various parts are all different sizes, but probably correctly proportioned.
One whole floor plan fit within the toilet bowl of another.

hi Box,
Thanks for the fast and clear reply. I know the resizing works but then its just for one group the others don't follow. But that will be because all the plans are on different scale's i think.
I will all resize them separately, do you need to resize them all in a different sketch up file ore can you do this also with turning layers off and on.Sam

I didn't download the file since I wasn't sure about the link.

Just resize them by opening each to edit. Then they should all fit together.

thanks all for your fast and clear reply's, it's fixed now!!
