Can anyone out there please tell us what's in 2016 make that would make us really want to upgrade from 2015?

So far all I've seen is the Pro version upgrades, and while tempting, I cannot justify spending about CDN$1,000 on it.

Yes, the new inference engine πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ is a powerful inducement, but is that all there is?

Do I still have to install 2016 and MANUALLY transfer all my plugin files, and re-install them, or will 2016 auto transfer all the plugins, toolbar settings, shortcuts, etc. as does just about every other s/w package update does??

It took me almost 2 full days to go from SU-8 to 2015 last year.......... πŸ‘Ž πŸ‘Ž

What about drawing file backwards compatibility?

What about known bug fixes? There's a lot....

          Thank you Cotty β˜€

I had read elsewhere some of that, but the list of bug fixes was a welcome addition.
Especially the "constrained by" fix. (Drawing lines close to but not on axis). That is one of the most irritating "features" I always encounter in SU.

I assume the list of features/bug fixes apply to both "make" and "pro" unless stated otherwise. Other than Layout, there were very few "pro" items listed.

But I remain in trepidation of having to manually transfer all my preference settings, and pretty much everything else that I can define when changing over.

That seems to me to be a very fundamental function. To upgrade, the user should choose "Install Overwrite" which simply replaces the old with the new and transfers all settings transparently, or "install standalone" as is the case today.

I remain; "on Fence" to upgrade. Probably will, but not now.

I put all my plugins in a common place and then tell sketchup to look there. For me to go from 7 to 8 to 2013 to 2014 to 2015 to t016 is effortless.

Since I am a plugins author and want my plugins to work with all these versions I want all of this to be seamless.

If you are interested in how this works then PM me.
