hello i search a plugin that split me faces in meter etc.

when i try to render objects in lightup4sketchup and than export this to fbx. the result is more than bad.

      for example

      Link Preview Image
      3D Warehouse

3D Warehouse is a website of searchable, pre-made 3D models that works seamlessly with SketchUp.

      favicon

      (3dwarehouse.sketchup.com)

this building i would have to split.

      faces vertical and horizontal

V in Meter H in Meter.

      all selected faces

      Thank you

A splitting of all faces shouldn't be the solution to be able to render the model. Can you show us an image of the problem?

the texture resolution is the main problem..i would safe this in a game.

i would love to have pullman in the game engin.

i have try this a long time with lightup for sketchup

Adam (developer) have told me, i must split the buldings, to have better resolution.

when i save this as player version the resolution is like i want...however when i save this as collada or fbx the reimport is very bad.

i dont know the best solution..or i will misunderstand the workflow in lightup.

i dont want switch to 3dsmax, blender and other progs.

                why an reimport.

now i have a special export plugin for Trainz (new name T:ANE Trainz a new era)

when i export to this game..all shadows will be lost

I don't use lightup but you have a very interesting topic here! Title is interesting, theme is interesting, the actual discussion is innovative and AdamB response at lightup was to the point.

However I think you are missing the real point here.

I think you don't need to split the buiding by material but rather by "building sections".

If you split the roof from the rest that will probably help, but what you should do is split the main building body from the smaller bodies, the left wing from the right wing, etc...

The idea is to have several BIG textures that cover BIG parts of the building, instead of one REALLY BIG texture that covers ALL building.

However there is no actual problem with that REALLY BIG texture. Ligthup seems to be capable of generating any texture of any size (I'm assuming from what I know from it, rather than from actually experimenting with it).

The problem is that Sketchup won't be able to display this REALLY BIG texture as for it to have nice detail it must be bigger than 4K and 4k (4096px X 4096px) is the maximum that sketchup can handle in a single texture.

                    yes i agree

                    what i have try.

i have try to seperate all parts in this building.

                    [Brick_Antique] in one group
roof in a secound group etc.

the problem is.. when i reimport the fbx or collada [Brick_Antique] and [Brick_Antique] copy

                    have different resolutions.

in a game i need a little bit shadows in the corners . the render engine doesnt provide shadows.

my fear is i must buy 3dmax and the flatiron plugin..to do this.

for freeware parts its to expansive 😞
