Importing dxf text
-
Hi, Newbie here!
Forgive me if this is posted in the wrong place.
I have downloaded a os map in dxf format. when I imported it into SketchUp, it only brought in the map and not the text.
Having jumped from pro 8 to pro 2015, I cant find the 'Import dxf text' tab under the file menu. I'm pretty sure it was a plugin I had, but can't find anything in the extension warehouse.
I've searched google to no avail. A point in the right direction would be greatly received.
Kind Regards
Dave.

It was probably TIG's importDXFtext. Get it through the SCF Plugin Store plugin and have it install automatically.
In case you haven't already read this, it isn't a good idea to copy plugins from your old SU8 installation. Ruby has changed and many plugins required updating.

Thanks Dave.
I've downloaded the plugin and have the rbz file. I'm not sure how or where to add this file. I couldn't see anyway of having it install automatically. Am I missing something very obvious here? (quite likely!)

Well, my suggestion was to download and install the SCF Plugin Store plugin (link at the top of the page) which would then allow you to search for and auto-install the plugin in question along with others. Since you have the RBZ file, though, go to Window>Preferences (or SketchUp Preferences on Mac) and choose Extensions. Click on the Install Extension button, navigate to the RBZ file, select it and choose open. click the affirmative replies to any questions that pop up and close Preferences. The plugin should be installed. Some plugins will require a restart of SketchUp to fully load although I don't think TIG's importer will.
By the way, if you decide to get the SCF Plugin Store plugin, it will install as I described. After it is installed and loaded, it will give you an Install button for each plugin you select from the hundreds available.
