How wonderful would it be, if SU like Adobe could change their icon with each new version that is rolled out. In that way I won't keep opening the wrong version from my dock because I don't always remember which is which.

You could simply uninstall older versions, or if you absolutely need to keep them installed, unpin them from the taskbar (right click, unpin) and delete their desktop shortcuts. You can then access it through the start menu (the quickest way is just to hit start and then type sketchup to get a list of all installed versions of sketchup)

I made a icon change by clicking on properties of the desired program, then > change icon. I brought in a custom icon of a small house from this file:
%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll
or you can make your own icon i.e. use - paint

There are many reasons to keep more than one version of an application. I agree, +1 for changing the icon. Seems like a rookie oversight for a software development company. Having to make your own icon or hide a shortcut is just silly.
