What am I mising

Any advice would be great.
I recently had to install a new version of SU on my computer, now my select tool doesn't display the dashed line box, you know the box that starts to form after you click drag, objects in the box get selected. It is nearly impossible for me to use this with out that.... where did it go?
Thanks guys,this is getting really frustrating and is killing my flow.

Go into Window>Preferences>OpenGL and untick Use Hardware Acceleration. Click OK and close SketchUp. then reopen it. Do you see the selection box after that?
