Help with wrapping a solid object, follow me not working
-
Hey guys,
I'm trying to redo a model, and was wondering if someone could tell me how I can wrap around a solid wall in this picture shaded in red?
I tried the follow-me tool, and it won't work.
I've uploaded the file as well if you want to take a peek at it.Thanks!

Follow Me wouldn't be the appropriate tool for a number of reasons in this case. Manually you can draw lines between vertices on the upper edges and the lower one. There are some plugins that could work such as Curviloft. Before you use either method, you should probably go around the edges and make sure you have it drawn correctly. For example there's a little bump in the lower edge. I tried to show it highlighted in the screen shot. There isn't a match for it in the upper curve which makes me wonder if you really want it.
There are also lots of holes in your model. I highlighted edges of some around one of the holes and fix those around the hole at the left. You'll also have to sort out what is to happen with those holes since the curren't don't go anywhere and haven't got bottoms.
This is a pretty small thing in real dimensions for the details it has. Scale it up by 100 or 1000 while working on it and you'll find it is easier to close up the small gaps.

Nope. It's exactly how I want it skinned. I tried that addon, but it's far too complicated for me to use. Can anyone give me a hand quick?

You can hire me to do it but I already gave you some instructions for doing it yourself. Curviloft isn't difficult to use. Just select the edges and run the plugin.

Curviloft isn't that hard to use. Here's your skin in just a few minutes, mostly for isolating the edges.

What an amazing tool guys. I got it, and it looks beautiful. I really can't thank you guys enough.
S Shepard, that gif was the bees knees really, I prefer to learn how to do these things myself, and you nailed it.
Really huge thanks. I'll be using this tool all the time now.
