Im quite new to sketchup having used FormZ for quite a while. One thing I can't work out if its possible to do in sketchup is; selecting a colour or material as an active material first, then when I create my object, that object will take on the active material? Like if I draw a window frame I know I want to use my window frame material when creating my frame rather than having to use the default material and then using the paint bucket to colour my objects after?

You could change the default front face color from white to some other color but then everything you'd draw would have that color.

You can't just pick a material before you've created the faces to apply it to.

Thanks for the reply Dave. Shame there is no way of doing this. It's a simple one and really handy if you know your going to be working for a bit with a particular material over several objects, rather than going round after with the pain bucket.

          Cheers

Thanks Dave. Shame it can't be done as it's a time saver but not the end of the world. Cheers

It wouldn't necessarily save you as much time as the potential problems it could cause.
It is always best to work in Monochrome so you can see that your faces are correctly orientated.
