Quick way to migrate everything to a new SU version?
-
I decided to give a try to SU2015, but I think I am just too lazy to start all over again installing plugins, customizing toolbars, settings.
Is there any way to just import all that from a earlier SU version? (I know about shortcuts, but is it possible for everything else?)
Btw, I think Su should ask if it finds some other installations, if user wants to import everything to the new installation. Just a easy migration.
Thank you. -
this could also go in a "feature request" thread for upcoming versions of SU, having to manually migrate plugins / extensions is a real pain

If you have everything installed via the Sketchucation Plugin Installer, you can use it to install your whole set. Use the bundles feature within.

This has been covered repeatedly here. You can copy folders for materials and styles but do not simply copy the Plugins folder. Unless you've kept all of your plugins up to date, you'll need to install fresh versions of most of them anyway. Use the SCF Plugin Store and Extension Warehouse tools to automatically install plugins to the proper location. Besides, it's a good opportunity to do some house cleaning and dump plugins you never use anyway.
As for toolbars, there isn't a way to copy them over. Besides, after SU8 there's a new toolbar manager for Windows installations. You can now create custom toolbars for the native tools. You can make your own toolbars including only those tools you use.

thank you all. Indeed, manually migrating is annoying. But Krisidious helped me, I didn't even knew that option exists. At least the plugins that I had installed from there I could recover easily.
Just small tweaks and I'll be on the go.Wish you best

Yes, Bundles is an excellent feature.
