Ah, yes. It's not the text that you want transparent, it's the text box. When I run into that situation I explode the dimension and resize the text box so it is as small as possible.

I've requested less padding around the text for dimensions and I know they've been working on it.

Yes, the text box is masking the extension lines. As I told you, explode the dimension. Then the text box won't mask the extension lines.

Thank you for your answer (I do not like exploding objects, but it is a solution).
              Good evening.

I don't like exploding them either but the only other alternatives are to put the dimension text on the other side of the dimension line away from the extensions or to make the text very small.

Not unless you explode the dimension.

Normal Dimension. Note, the Fill button is not clicked.

Dimension exploded. No change to the fill setting.

But it would help to change the tool just to produce the text behind it's own dimension lines. As it is, it's just wrong. The no-fill setting should be made work. I rarely use fill in CAD dimensions.

I agree with you Peter. I think the reason for the filled text box in dimensions is because the fill creates the gap between the arrows if the text is centered on the dimension line. Most of the time when the issue is a problem for me, it's really that there's too much padding on either end of the text.

Thanks Dave! Just did a test! It's not actually fill! The text box truncates the leader!

Ah, yes, if you double click on the dimension so you can move the text box without moving the rest of the dimension, you can see it behaves like the text box has fill when it is over the arrow or extension lines. It doesn't have fill if you move it over something unrelated though. Still, as far as creating dimensions, the text box might as well have fill turned on.
