Zoom Selection shortcut? - organizing outliner
-
I'm working on my model after importing a lot of objects from 3d warehouse in trying to organize them in outliner. What would be really helpful is a shortcut key to zoom selection on the Mac. Presently I right click on the group then select "Zoom Selection". This is a two-step process which requires me to reorient myself to the right click menu which is slowing me down from typing in my group names and organizing them. I don't see how to add this to the custom keyboard shortcuts because the selection option off the right click mouse menu is not in the camera off the Tools menu . Do you know how I can access shortcuts to this right click mouse menu?

are you adding keystrokes via the operating system? (system prefs-> keyboard-> shortcuts)
if so, don't do that.. use sketchup preferences instead.
(SketchUp-> Preferences-> Shortcuts)if you want to add a shortcut for something in the right-click menu (context sensitive) you'll have to give some context in order for the shortcut to become available in the list..
in other words, select something in the model space then go to the shortcuts prefs and Zoom Selected will be available to assign to.

That worked Jeff - thanks for taking time to explain. Oddly enough once the shortcut was created it wouldn't seem to trigger a camera reorientation from highlighting a new group in Outliner. This is where the time savings could come from. Any more thoughts on it?
Thanks,

Maybe if you back up the question I have is about how to best organize my model. I'm not really yet fluent with outliner and layers and the best way to show varying model options to clients. I'm modelling my house and playing with new walls. I'll look up some youtubes on it.
