I have a continuing need to export to Autocad (3D). The export function works just fine. The issue is that the whole model is exported even if part of it is hidden or layers are turned off. What I need to do is export only what I can see or what I have selected. I have searched the plugins but don't find anything relevant. Perhaps someone more observant or clever can suggest a solution.

        How about this?

Select what you need to export. Copy it (Ctrl+C, Command-C)
        Open a new SU file.
        Hit Edit>Paste in Place.
        Do the export.

That definitely works and that's exactly what I'm doing now as a workaround. I needed 8 exports yesterday for my current project and being basically lazy, I'm trying to streamline the process.

How about saving the file, selecting what you don't want to export and deleting it. Make the export, undo the delete step, rinse and repeat.

You could delete everything else in your model and then export and then undo to get the deleted geometry back? repeat? Dave's way is probably safer and just as easy though.

I used to want to batch export dwgs for going to autocad. But, now that I switched to Layout for CD's I don't have to worry about it anymore.

Dave, Option 2 also works but for me it is always a question about the number of steps. If I have to do something 10 times and I have 2 extra operations times 10 iterations, I have had to do 20 extra operations. Again, there's the lazy guy syndrome. I'm always assessing the number of mouse clicks.

Kris, I need to go to Autocad in 3D as a step to an acis (sat) file. Nothing to do with 2D drawings for which I think Layout is great.
