Resize a titleblock?
-
I've been a SU User since v4. I'm now looking at Layout again and hoping to use for my simple projects. I started making an ARCH D size template with the necessary title block. I also wanted to make a 11x17 sheet template. I saved a blank page with title block and adjusted the doc info to be 11x17 paper. I assumed I could just group the title block objects and resize the group to be correct for the 11x17 page. However, this does not work. When resized, the text objects don't get smaller, just less is visible and a red arrow appears. Is there a quick way to do this or do I have to resize each object in the title block?
Also, in my AutoCad, I have title block fields that automatically up date. Is this possible with Layout? Plugins or something?

you want to explode some of that title-block. it's groups of groups and they don't scale correctly inside one another.
you want text labels for the auto updating. little codes you put in places that dynamically update. You'll see it in the new functions.
here's the article with instruction on the auto-text

Mate, text doesn't scale, the point size will always stay the same. You can try the function under text smaller / bigger, double click on the group to open it for editing, select the text boxes (all) and hit the smaller button under the text menu a few times!

This was what I was concerned about. It means I have to make a new title block for each sheet size.

So no way to easily have the title block resize for different sheet sizes? I really don't want to have to spend hours just on the title blocks. I feel like this is the hard way of doing it.

Yes. there are many functions that you find in CAD, missing in LO. You can make a title block of the portions you don't need to edit, transferred to pdf and use that in the LO template, you have to add text that needs editing still.

Okay that is a work around I had not thought of.

A title block should be part of your template. Make a template for the size of the paper you're working with. If you need to print on different size sheets, make the template for the largest and print the exported PDF to the desired smaller size.
