Is SU 2014 now bug free?

I'm still waiting for features that would make it worth...
what features could this be... i.e. would you upgrade if e.g. a 64-bit version would be avail?
or no way if high-poly count support, subdivision modeling, nurbs modeling and brewing a yummy latte macchiato is not included
just wondering

In fact, the main reason has been that commercial use is permitted with v8 free. There just hasn't been anything I've come across that I haven't been able to do with the tools and plugins that are already available in v8. When there's a swell new tool, or some workflow that I can't get in v8, then I'm all ears. My modeling needs are not very complex (mainly square architecture) While bells and whistles may be fun for playing, I'm careful how I spend my money on my actual needs. For quite some time now, I've spent it only on donating to plugin authors.
Edit: oh yeah, and I don't use layout. ACAD is better for my needs.

Is there any software anywhere that is "bug free"? I doubt it.
I think SU2014 has fewer bugs than SU7 or SU8 but Kurt, your post makes it sound as if you're reluctant to learn even a few new things like easier ways to install new plugins. Maybe you should just stick with SU7 and not trouble yourself.

Dang it, I reinstalled R14. Decided I should stop being a stubborn old fart and give it a decent chance.
One nice thing - I seem to now have a choice as to which SU version I open my models with
even though both are called Sketchup 2014, if I choose the one with the old icon it opens with R8. Strange, but I'll take it. Didn't have that option before. Now I've got to see if I can come up with something to easily manipulate my shadows.
Sorry for all the controversy this thread has stirred up. Didn't mean for that to happen.

I was reluctant to upgrade as I saw nothing worth paying more money for and losing some of my most used plugins. Then Skalp came along and gave me a reason to upgrade.
If you're into Layout there are some tools for architecture there that will make you feel good about the choice. labeling, hatch patterns, speed and stability improvements.
As for SU2014? I gained hidden line style, a classifier system that I don't use and it seems no one else does either, I lost some plugins, had to go through and reinstall everything, had to come up with new custom toolbar solution... After all that I'm back to normal minus a few plugins.

btw, 145.- U$ for jumping from v8 to v10 (aka 2014)... the bug fixes and improvements of existing functions are already worth this 'effort'.

I tested it and found no improvements that mattered to me worth any further investment. the addition of hatches was limited to only layout and no vector. Other than that and labeling I don't know what other improvements I missed. I was not having issue with any certain bugs. And sketchup still crashes daily with my plethora of plugins. And I am sorely missing a few of my old plugins like the SCF powerbar. Some of it works, but some of it does not.
Skalp sections made me upgrade, or I would not have...

Well, I'll probably just keep it on my main computer, but I don't see me using it at all.
Unless I save a model from R14, they all open with R8 automatically, so that's good. I use very few plugins, never use layout, and have had my fling with architecture. Even tho I've had R8 Pro for a few years now, I have never used any of it's pro features. I just got it to make sure it would download and install ok back when I thought I could get everyone a good deal on it (and didn't that turn out just fine )So, I appreciate all the input and suggestions from everybody. My efforts to make the "new and improved" SU worthwhile to me have come to a halt. It's there if I need it but I don't see why I would. R8 will do just fine for what work I have left to do.
thanks again

Yeah, that was fun, definitely something different for me. But working with flat planar surfaces just seems strange for me. I need curves, lotsa curves!!!

If you like curves so much, feel free to do any of my houses...
