I highlighted some things that would help improve the image if you address them.

There are some other things like a subsurface material for the candles.

Specular and bump for the table material.

Some bevels on the geometry would also add to the scene.

Not sure what render engine you use?

      Those aren't artifacts, that's the shadow from the curved curtain material.  YOU NEED TO LEARN THINGS ABOUT ART AND ARTWORK.

garystan, I think Rich is referring to the visible changes between the gray areas of similar color in the shadow areas, not to your artistic integrity.
