I think this is what the bundles function of the plugin store is for.

If I understand well, you manually copied the plugins from one machine to an other.

V2.6.1 uses the download list to identify which plugins were autoinstalled. So one way to "re-educate" it is to autoinstall those plugins you want to see in your download list. It also ensures that you will have the latest version.

Bob go to your old machine and within Bundles section of the sketucation tool sort out the bundle for that machine so that everything you want is up to date.
Then go to the new machine, open the bundles and auto install the bundle from the old machine. (It would probably be best to first remove the plugins from the plugin folder that you manually transferred to avoid any confusion.)
Now you have two machines with the same plugins and they are all up to date. Plus the new machine will recognise which plugins you have and when they need to be updated.

Note: this doesn't cover plugins from other sources, so they will need to be done manually.

what Box said... no manually copying plugins anymore with 2014. that's a no-no.

That's not completely true Kris, copying from one setup of SU14 to another SU14 is ok because the plugins are compatible, but you don't get the all advantages of the Sketchucation plugin knowing what you have and being able to auto update etc.
The real no no is copying from SU8 or SU13 to SU14. Problems with manual copying should only arise when it's from an older version. There are some plugins out there that come from different sources that if you know they are working and up to date in SU14 then a manual copy across should be fine. However, if you have the option it never hurts to download fresh.

Yes I should have said upgrading in that fashion, not moving. But, don't some plugins use tools and resources folder in the main folder system? Is that not why the bundle system works so well? it reinstalls the list?

My understanding is that it keeps a record of what you have downloaded through it, not what you have on your computer. So it won't recognise things you have copied across, only those things that you have downloaded, no matter where they are stored on your computer. So a bundle is a list of things you have downloaded from the store and it is specific to a PC, you can then choose to put that same list onto another PC or even modify and make a different list and download that list/bundle.

Yes, I know about the bundles... I'm talking about manually copying over plugins folder only in 2014. you won't get any of the files that are in the main system folder.

I personally know of no plugins that are situated outside the normal plugin structure. I may be wrong. Unless you mean render engines and such, but that's a separate issue.

Yeah, I was wondering if they might have done away with people using that route a while back. Seems like I had heard Tig say it was bad form. But doesn't mean they don't... As you said, after looking I just see lightup in my tools folder.
