CAD Layers in SU
-
Hi,
I imported a CAD plan and it came with trillions of layers.
I went through the painful process of turning off layers that where not needed.
Then realised that I ought to group remaining entities to a new group and layer called CAD.
But I'm left with all these layers not used in the layers box. How to get rid of them?
Also I wonder if all this will slow my machine a lot as I'm having a painful time zooming into things. Sometimes the damned zoon will not move in. All I could think of was its my mouse or all these not used layers slowing my machine down.
Advise will be welcome.

I think you should spend some time poking around SketchUp. You'd find lots of answers to your questions by doing so.
Click on the Details button in the Layers window and click on Purge Unused. That'll get rid of any layers that haven't got entities associated with them. You can select layers in the window and click on the - in the circle toward the top. That'll delete layers. If layers are associated with entities, you'll be prompted as to what you want to do with those entities. Remember that layers do nothing to separate entities. Only space, group wrappers and component wrappers do that.
Also take a minute to make sure that all primitive entities--edges and faces--are on Layer 0 and make sure you always leave Layer 0 as the active layer.

And when zooming make your mouse point at a line or face. If you zoom on the background it will stay put.

Thanks for your time and help.
